I'd love to see the Twins make a run at it but they're outmatched. Still, they've got a shot. Especially if they can take one or two from the Yankees in New York.
No chance for the Yankees at the Metrodome.
I'm a White Sox fan and hate the Yankees, go Twinkies!

What a game. Glad to see there's a little metrodome magic left. Tomorrow's gonna be brutal though.
Brandon Inge was hit by the pitch. Total horseshit for the ump to miss that call.
What a fantastic game. Inge was great. Stabing that line drive and getting a clutch hit in the next inning, but it just wasn't enough. I love underdogs. Good for the Twins. Yanks have them beat on paper, but anything can happen in a short series. If the Twins sneak one in the Bronx, they will win #3 and #4 at home then all bets are off for game 5. I'm a huge Yankees fan, but honestly I'd like to see Torre out- manage Girardi for the W.S. ring.
Glad I dug up this thread during last night's game.

Really? I think if MN wins one in NY and two in MN, then the outcome of the series is pretty certain.
And you guys thought I was being presumptuous by starting this thread so early!
Seriously, what a spectacular game. I live in MN and am a big fan. I had to turn off the TV a few times because I was so nervous. I think games like that (and, often, postseason baseball in general) provides more drama than Super Bowls, NBA championships, or Stanley Cups. As far as drama, for me, the only thing that comes close is Sunday afternoon at the Masters (when the leaders are tied/close).
GO TWINS! I do think the Yankees have their number, though.
In a short series, it's very possible for the lesser team to win.
In baseball now, you play 162 games in order to qualify for the quarter finals. Then it's a matter of which hitters have a good weekend.

Yes you were being presumptuous but also optimistic about the Twins' chances against the Tigers. I'm surprised we put up that much of a fight, especially in the Metrodome. Great exciting game, too bad we lost. But we lost our postseason chances back in early September, not last night.
I'm looking forward to the Yankees choking. God I hate them soo much. Go Twins!
CORRECTION:
they will win #3 OR #4 ; )
Thanks Wendell for pointing out my math error.

No, sorry, you're not a Yankees fan. You're a Torre fan. And probably a Jeter fan. You started liking the Yankees in the late 90's I bet. You remind me of "Lakers" fans who really are Kobe nut huggers.
If you're a "huge Yankees fan" as you say, you would root for the Yankees. Not the Dodgers. No way around this. I don't care what Torre did for the team (and he was actually not a very good manager). You don't see many Green Bay fans rooting for Favre.
And lastly, how can the Twins sneak one in the Bronx, and then win 3 and 4, and then you're talking about game 5? The series would be over by then, buddy
Sentences end with a punctuation mark. Try it.

ZING!
Raised on the Yankees. I remember as a 6 year old waving to Reggie at batting prctice and he waving back. I rembering "booing" when Pinella came up to bat and my dad correcting me that the crowd was Louing. I remember hot summer afternoons in my grandparents house with no A/C and keeping box scores of the games on WPIX. I am and always will be a Yankees fan.
I also posted the mathematical correction 30 minutes before your reply. Thanks buddy.
The Yanks went 7-0 against MN this season so unless something huge has changed they should easily move on to the ALCS.
It may be closer than the 7-0 record indicates.
May 15-18 at Yankees
5-4, Nathan blows save by giving up 3 in the 9th
6-4 in 11
3-2 in 10, for third straight walk off win
7-6, Yankees 6 run first inning and they hang on
July 7-9 at Twins
10-2, Sabathia dominates
4-3
6-4
So a lot of close games, but the Yankees come out on top of all of them.
Yanks win...and I'm laughing at the Detroit fan who said they'd be the Yanks just like they did in 2006...those bums couldn't even get by the twinks. LOL.
