Oregon is suddenly THE place to train

Boy Wonder: Not too many places you pass a 2:10 marathoner heading out for his run.

Can I count a pair of 2:10 half marathoners? Happens all the time here in NYC.

I was in Portland a few weeks ago (on my way to Mt. Hood) and ran 18 miles on the Wildwood Trail in Forest Park. That is a pretty nice park, I have to admit. Even cooler was how close you can live to it, so you can just run out your front door and in less than 5 minutes be on trails.

Really? I see many sub 2:20 African professionals, who are the 2:10 runners?

Western Oregon has better weather than nearly everywhere else in the US. Many places have trails, few have such favorable conditions. This is why Oregon is so popular.

Yeah while Oregon is not the only great place to run I am glad that the elites seem to be flocking there, nothing bad can come of these guys training together except that they will get inspired or challenged more so than they would at home. I am sure all the altitude spots will still be used but I think it only makes sense to get as many of the elite together as possible in a effort to be more comeptitive as a nation.

When one goes, others will follow. Why not have a good group to train with.

Team USA is solidifying! It's great to see this. Now we just need the Mammoth Lakes folks plus John Cook's group (Applebury) to make the migration. Better yet, why not have the Hansons, Team USA Minnesota, and Jack Daniels head over there for good measure?
