I don't understand why everyone hates Metcalf and Washington. I live on the East Coast and don't know any of the people involved but you're looking at a team that had one of the best XC teams in the last ten years and then qualified five people for outdoor nationals, had two place in the top 3, and didn't run their top girl from cross. Yes, a lot of those women were pretty amazing recruits but EVERY big school gets stud recruits and if they don't that's their fault.

I would even argue that the men who are constantly ridiculed for underachieveing do about what's expected. Abbot wasn't a superstar in high school and is a multiple time all-american. They had a guy in the 10k (who bombed but he's still a sub 29 guy) and they were a top 20 team in cross.

No dog in this fight, but especially on the mens side there have been a lot of top runners especially from the PNW who dissapear at Washington. A LOT.

However, cross country running does not translate to the track and track does not translate to cross country. It may be more the acception than the rule that someone rocks cross country and then comes and rocks track.

OK, you got me on Kosinski at natls and Blood was also between Babcock and Schaaf, I just checked the results again. Campbell is a junior and is back next year. Campbell was UW's 7th runner at natls in 51st. Scherf was Oregon's 4th runner in 48th, 5-6-7 were all behind Campbell. UW returns top 7 except for Amanda Miller. Scherf and Bridgmon are both listed as seniors on the results but apparently Scherf still has eligibility based on what you've said. No matter how you stack it UW looks stronger unless the Oregon incoming frosh are all up there with Blood and Kosinski.

Anita is done for cross and has one more track season. I expect Kailey Campbell to step up and fill the void somewhat; not sure on recruiting.

Agree w/the baoveabout the Metcalf/Strong situ. It certainly helps explain the men/women's disparity.

Schaaf looks to be running pretty well in Canada... did very well at nationals (junior).
