Well I'm white and I dated an Indian girl for a year and a half. So yeah.
I chose the Indian place to demonstrate that I am a man of the world. As far as the meal itself, I did everything right. I asked for chopsticks instead of fork (never got them though), got the spiciest curry on the menu etc etc

This is an opportunity for some good self-deprecating humor. I think the rule about not taking a date of another ethnicity to a place of that ethnicity is used more for jokes and conversation than anything else. A lot of people just love good Indian food. If this relationship is really going anywhere, you should be able to have a quick laugh about it. If not, well, I think humorlessness can negate good looks or whatever else in a real hurry.

Didn't you have a conversation about this? Had you told her you liked Indian food? At that point wouldn't you have expected her to say she was liked it too..or didn't like it or..that she was of Indian heritage etc...seems kinda normal I'd say.

I grew up in Montana. How the heck am I supposed to know that srivastana and abdullah do not come from the same area?The dinner itself went well. Although they didn't give me chopsticks or the fortune cookie I ordered, things went well.I will take her to a great local burgerplace this friday
