Sounds pretty good, Monte.
To me, the island is a sort of purgatory, and death is the only way out. (Juliet says "it worked.") Death is not a bad thing on the island, necessarily. It is about the struggles of mortality: "life's a bitch, then you die" could be a good way to describe it, because they are trying very hard to survive, and the whole time, death was the only way out.
Also, Miles is the only one who can transcend purgatory. Something tells me he saw the alternate LAX scene through Juliet.
I would guess that everyone dies in the end somehow, but not in the usual sense. It's more like they will all reach a sort of nirvana by understanding their mortality.
Just my take on the overall theme of this season, based entirely off of the first episode. Could be completely wrong, but hey, that's what's fun about this show.
