Never noticed a difference with running performance or weight either on or off birth control, but also wasn't ever someone who had problems with PMS symptoms.
Most women I know with the rollercoaster-style hormone fluctuations have had to try at least two or three BC options before finding a good fit.

I've been on NuvaRing for almost 2 years and I've had no problems. I've had no weight gain or mood effects. My periods have been lighter. I do remember thinking that my breasts got slightly larger when I first started.
I can't comment on the level of fatigue since I moved at about the same time I started NR and consequently changed from running mostly on packed dirt trails to pavement. I had a harder time keeping up the mileage but I think that was a result of the surface and grad school obligations.
Never noticed any connection between birth control pills and running performance, really. I have been taking Alesse for almost 10 years now. I started taking it because I had very painful and irregular periods. For this purpose they work perfectly. What concerns running, I don't see any influence.

I hooked up with a lot of guys my first semester. Condoms are gross and most guys don't want to use them either. I just tell guys I'm on birth control. If they want proof I tell them I got the shot. I haven't gotten preggo yet :(

This is a known side effect with some variations on how it effects the user.
