I was really exciting finally to know the truth about his DoB. Thanks.

This is pretty typical of the messageboard... the Brojos have this thread linked on the front page (and yes, I am biased because it's my thread), but even still, no one really wants to talk about Kipchoge. It's as if Bekele is the only person worth posting about.
This guy beat Bekele and El G in a championship 5k. He has run 12:46, and now he has run a very impressive 3k to kick off the year. I'm hoping he runs another sub-12:50 5k and pushes a less-than-100% Bekele to the brink at Worlds.
Folks in this forum are very ignorant. They claim to be athletics fans but do not know much about athletics. They would rather talk about bekele because most of the info about him has been divulged by the mainstream media,so they have something to talk about bekele. On the other hand they do not know much about the rest of the elites e.g kipchoge. Neither do they know much about athletics in coutries like kenya, ethiopia and Jamaica( incidentally the power houses of athletics) ,so to make themselves feel better about their ignorance they just dismiss this power houses' dominances by claiming it must be PEDs in use.
However,The brojos are true athletics fans and are doing a great service to the sport.......Kudos brojos!!!!
There are lots of fans of international track here. Feel free to post any other sources but I bet people here read all read the same IAAF articles re: Kipchoge, Choge, Mosop, Kiprop, Dinkessa, Koech, Soi, Gebremarian (sp?), Tola, Rudisha, Mutai, Kibet, Kwambai, etc.
The PEDS accusations re Kenya and Ethiopia are annoying (someone needs to get caught to justify it). But the junior age issues are more legitimate.
Bekele and Wanjiru are the standard-bearers just like MJ was to basketball. That's all. Plus, the people here are just more focused on the US runners. Nothing wrong with that. Its who they are most familiar with. I am sure there are basketball and football sites out there dominated by Euro-basketball or MLS fans.

He was no junior in 2003. He's probably 30 right now.
He's 32 years old.
I know his uncle quite well and he tells me that he (Kip) was born in June 1977.[/quote]
You do not know his uncle and yes you are the biggest bullshitter on this site.

He already admitted it, it's not like you are calling him on something that might be true or might not be.
I believe kipchoges age, and at most he is 2-3 years older than he should be-a big deal as a junior but not now.

Um, the brojos have insinuated drug use by the top africans many, many times. Of course they also celebrate the great runners' performance to hype up running. They like to have it both ways, it's easier to get hits to their site that way.

Hi, my name is Retard Mc Retard and I don't understand a scroll bar.
So that makes it even more impressive when a "32" year old out kicks everyone and runs 7.28 for a 3k.
You guys don't make any sense talking like all Africans are old. think about what you are saying you guys keep claiming they are really 25 when they were racing juniors and stuff well that would mean they are over 30 now and running near world record times.
Stop being so Naive and understand that there are actual phenoms in this world besides the American German Fernandez.
I've always rooted for Kipchoge. Kipchoge, Augustine Choge, and Isaac Songok are some of my more favorite Kenyan runners, although not as consistent and successful as I would sometimes hope. Choge had a good 1500m performance as well, running 3:30.xx. Choge and Kipchoge are not surprisingly coached by the same man, Brother Colm O'Connell, I think that's his name. Picked these two up from St. Patrick's High School somewhere in Kenya. Beasts right out of the gate. I hope Kipchoge takes the 5000m this summer at world champs. I would like to see Kipchoge, Choge, and Isaac Songok all in that final.
Kipchoge is not coached by Bro' occonel,he is coached by a two kenyan coaches i.e Joseph Chelimo and patrick Sang ( these two are employed by Jos Hermene's Global athletics to coach their athletes in kenya). Augustine Choge however is coached by Bro' occonnel and his agent is an australian by the name James Templeton.Neither of the two athletes went to St. Patricks Iten for High school. The only thing they have in common is that they come from the same region in Nandi district.
Eliud Kipchoge's village has also produced:-
Elijah Lagat
Patrick Sang
Isack Songok
Bernard Lagat
Robert Cheseret
Riiiiiiiight. This makes perfect sense. We westerners are "suckas" because even though our senior athletes lag far behind the East Africans in distance races, our real juniors would...what? Dominate the "real" East African juniors? Get your head out of your ass. If a mid-20s East African is that much ahead of a mid-20s westerner, wouldn't you expect it to be the same case as 19-year olds?

why is this a surprise to anyone? jesus, this is standard practice. i know someone married to a top east african, i made the comment about him being much younger than her, and her comment was "well, not exactly" - his passport and actual age are off by about 5 years. this whole junior bit is a joke and westerners are suckas.
piedmontcat wrote:So that made him a 25/26 year old junior?? Wow...
I am a fan of Kipchoge and all the great Kenyan and Ethiopian runners and I try to watch all of the big meets. At the same time I do not think that there is anything wrong with saying that some, not all, of them have run as juniors when they were really a year or two or three older (not 6). A few have outright admitted it. That's not to say that the most talented and hardworking runners are not from Africa. They are. And I understand why they would do it. And its nowhere near something like using PEDs (which none have ever tested positive for unlike the US sprinters). But lets not pretend it does not happen sometimes and that it does not demoralize actual 18-19-year olds from other countries. Its like college juniors and seniors entering a freshman-only race.
