I don\'t recall how great his times were in high school, but David Morris came out of Eagle River, Alaska in the late 80\'s and went on to success at Montana and later a 2:09:32.

Was the meet he ran this at held on one day or over the course of two?

Well, the thread is about Dunbar, not German and Derrick....but...If Derrick wasn't in the race at Cardinal, everybody on this site would be crowing about how German is the best distance runner ever. Instead, half the people on this board are yapping about how German is a scrub now. The fact is that both runners broke the old record. Derrick won and German was second. The fact that Derrick beat German does not detract from German's performance. If the order had been reversed, Derrick could still be equally proud to have gone under the old record.

I'm pretty sure this meet was held over 2 days with the 2-mile the night before followed by the mile, 8 and 4 on Saturday. Seems like everyone thinks he did all that in one day. Not the case
