I want him to succeed, but I dont think its a foregone conclusion he will drop another 12 seconds.

Now that I have your attention, and you bring up lack of speed for your argument, how do you think his speed (which is just now coming around) compares to Meb. You know that guy who holds the american record at 27:13.
If you need a hint, here is Meb's senior year in college:
1998: 4th at NCAA (5,000)...2nd at Pac-10, 4th at NCAA and 4th at USA Championships...bests of 3:42.29 (1500), 4:02.86 (mile), 13:26.85 (5,000), 28:16.79 (10,000).
First year as a pro:
1999: 4th at USA Outdoors 10,000m...5th at Pan American Games 10 km)...bests of 13:40.86 for 5,000m and 28:29.27 for 10,000m.
Lifetime:
PRs: 1500, 3:42.29 (1998); 5,000 13:11.77 (2000); 10,000 27:13.98 AR

I will say this. For all the hype about Ritz being the first "white boy" to crack 27:00, Rupp is the one with the capability to do it as he develops his raw footspeed, not Ritz. The question is, will he? But sub 27:20 guaranteed (probably this year if not the AR) and most likely sub-27:10.
Am I the only one who thinks Rupp could have hit close to 27:20 a couple years ago after he ran such an uneven 27:33 and won? That year he had to do a mini peak for ncaa's and then take some down time before US champs and worlds. If he could have done a 10K in europe that summer instead I think he'd already be around 27:20 from a couple years ago.
Oh, My bad. You're right! Everybody is exactly the same in how they progress and run in relation to others. No runners ever run PR's in college and never beat them later. Brilliance on display. Question: Did Meb have all of Rupp's training advantages during college? Even still, using YOUR logic, If Rupp drops 20 seconds in the 5K (which will make him a damn fine American 5K guy) he still doesn't break 27 in the 10K using the Poster Boy Meb as our guide.

I also made the point that Rupp has just now been PR'ing pretty huge in every thing from 800 to 5K and i'm sure even a dolt like you can go one step further to agree that the 10K is likely next.

----- Yes your right about the 5K, in fact he'd have the American record for 5K. Again, the reference to Meb was in response to your statement that Rupp didn't have enough SPEED to do it. Well, he's always had more speed than Meb and in fact (i'll say it again) Galen's speed only seems to be improving. Meb got to 27:13 so......Galen's better speed cannot take him past that? Remember it was your statement that his lack of speed was what would keep him out of it.

There was no worthy point to counter. You spend your time turning my post around to say or imply things I didn't say or imply. Then you respond to the new post you created for me and pretend to have the superior position. That's crazy-making at best. My original post was my opinion that Rupp is not likely to drop another 12 seconds off the 5k. Truly, whether he will or not remains to be seen. You think he will, I'm not so confident about that. These are opinions...do you get that? Calling me silly in logic and then twisting your response to implicate me saying Rupp will not progress is absurd to me. Frankly, it pissed me off. BUT, you seem to think casting stones give strength to your position. It doesn't. Whether I think he has enough speed or not means nothing. You pointing to another runner as an example to support your position means nothing. In the final analysis, they are conclusions drawn out of opinions. So, I'll say again, I hope he does well. I hope Rupp proves me wrong. But I stand by my opinion that I don't think he has the upper range to get under 13 and 27. I hope you can accept that.

I'll say 27:10. His indoor mile is very very encouraging. However, if he ran that only after 3 months of specific workouts for the mile, I would adjust my prediction back to 27:20. If he ran that mile just off of base and a couple of speed workouts, then I'd say he will break 27. Sub-27 takes some serious speed - probably sub-3:36 in the 15. I don't know that he has the wheels.

Meb Keflezighi's 5000m pr was 13:11-13 when he set the AR at 10,000m. Rupp ran 13:18i this year, so I'd say he's in about the same shape, maybe closer to around 27:20 right now. But Rupp is much better than Keflezighi when comparing same-age pr's. I say around

Careful..."please wake up and then post" will twist your words around and say you're silly. I maintain that Rupp has had superior coaching to Meb at the comparible age PR's. My Opinion is that Rupp may be closer to his best potential now than people want to accept. I think his lifetime PRs will be 13:08 for 5K and 27:10ish for 10K.
I hope I'm wrong, but I dont think he goes under 13 or 27.

Good Point, But may not be a fair comparison. Bernard Lagat ran (approximately)
1500: 3:26.xx
3000: 7:32ish
5000: 12:59ish

By comparison to Charles Kamathi, he is getting slower the longer the race. You just cant look at one person's talent and draw good conclusions about another person's talent. Rupp does seem to perform better in the longer races compared to HIS shorter races. However, his times now are not good enough to be this agressive in the predictions. IMO

rupp will likely beat webb in a mile before webb beats rupp over 10K, no joke.

Rupp trained already like a pro(and had even a better equipment/support than most pros) when he was in HS, it's unlikely that he now drops 40s from his 10k PR unless he is getting into heavy doping.
Meb gradually increased his workload, started to do altitude training and so on, so he had much more room for improvement than Rupp.
