In addition to those who were busted for drugs, you also have those who were strongly suspected (yet managed to escape detection). In the U.S., there was Florence Griffith Joyner. From Morocco, there's Said Aouita. His encouragement of drug use to the Australian athletes he was coaching makes him look suspicious. As far as I'm concerned, all of his world records and medals from World Champs/Olympics are tainted.
Well, I guess we'll just have to wait and see if that one turns out to be true. All I can say is that with the hundreds of his blood samples out there, I'm sure they'll continue to test him away retroactively for any new substance they discover. I can't say the same for the 80s stars; I'm sure we still have plenty of samples from that era, but many of those athletes and/or their little friends will continue to make sure those don't get touched forever. It's just policitics, no big deal. The only ones behind the times here are our American distance runners; we still try to train clean... I honor our guys for their efforts, but I hope they really love running and are in it just for the fitness, because without the drugs and a lucky day, they simply can't compete...

You guys can keep talking all you want because the Moroccan athletes will not be affected by some white running message board. I have many friends in Morocco that are simply hard workers including couple of sub 3'35 and 13'10 guys and a 2'08 marathoner. If you were to see them train you would cry! There are many American distance runners who cheat or cheat indirectly and still get away with it, possibly not even get a drug test all year long. I have lived with a Moroccan 2'05 marathoner for 6 weeks and trained together, he was tested at 7am before his 22 mile run about 6 weeks before the competition. Also, Moroccan athletes get random drug tests all year round in Morocco because th control is always around the track where they train so the cheaters are maybe 1/100.
