Road star James Koskei played soccer and didn't start running competitively until he was 25 years old.

Surprised no one's mentioned Robert Gary. He was one of the best distance runners in Illinois when he was in high school during track season, but played soccer in the fall and never ran cross until college.

I was always told that Ritz played soccer until he was cut his Freshman year, and then he switched to XC. The rest is history.

Erik Skoquist 36yr old Swedish international runner. Played soccer up to the age of 27. Then took up running and has made World and Euoropean championships and ran a 13.21 5k. Impressive or what for a late comer?

Rob Jeurgens from Ohio was a soccer player all through high school I believe and ran track his last two years. Went to Ashland University and ran 13:55 or so for 5k. Had success as well after college and also as a master.
