9.44 miles or 15.19 kilometers is not 15k

I haven't looked for it, but I read an account of Williams's race awhile back. He took off from mile one, and I believe was alone by the time he crossed the first bridge, which was (I think) around 2 miles in. I know I've seen a picture of him early in the race and no one else is even visible. He went through the first 5k sub-14:00 in that race.

There's nothing official about the numbers you see on the above link. The course is not 15.19 km. It is 15 km.

Yup, if he had someone to run with the last 10K, he definitely would have run in the 42:20s instead of the 43:30S. I mean, that's only like 11 seconds/mile faster. Piece of cake!

It is absolutely impossible to run perfect tangents and .14 over the course of 9.3 miles is very realistic - especially on a very twisty turny 15k course.

If anything, the course was short the year Todd ran 42:22

The course was also different that year - starting and finishing on the south side of the river and taking a long, long ramp down the Hart Bridge.

The ONLY year the course ever started and finished on the south side - Todd ran 42;22 -

Todd won the race 6 times - and his SECOND fastest time was slower than Fam ran Saturday

I don't believe I give a crap about how close the course was to 15 km or even the US record for 15 km. I'm just happy to see Fam get a win, happy to see Nelson in contention, etc. Outside of the competition nothing else really matters to me.
