You're high if you think Tyson David is finishing worse than 4th, he might even challenge the top two. and it may seem like the frosh are outclassed but that's what people thought in the fall as well. puskedra and derrick will place high just like in xc.

there used to be a 10 minute segment on this but it was pulled off you tube, but for the last 1/3 or more of NCAA x-c puskedra led the chase pack with Derrick tucked in. At one point Luke had strung the chase pack out at about 8K. He still hung on for 5th, Derrick got 7th.
Chris and Luke shouldn't be underestimated at 5K. Chris's 2nd ever was 13:44 and Luke's one and only was 13:46. That's solid. Plus these guys are proven to show up big on game day.
Additionally, Derrick ran that 13:44 largely solo. I have no doubt he can pr with some big competition.

This is a dumb statement. If we were going off of events that had never happened how could you have picked Rupp to win NCAA XC? He had always choked in the past. Rupp is the class of the field but who knows, Chelanga is a damn good runner too. Hopefully it is an exciting race.

Rupp lost the 2007 NCAA 10K to Songock, who went on to win 2 more titles. Rupp let the pace be slow and opened the door to a very good runner to beat him with better speed. I'd call that a day of poor racing, not choking.

Forrest ran well, but so did Derrick and Puskedra.
Derrick especially, though Luke started a bit later in the season.
Since Derrick ran his qualifying time at the very beginning of the season I figured he'd be in that much better shape. And he was, but Forrest performed better too, nearly taking Chelanga. Nice race. I'd say all of the top 6 are probably happy with their performances except Chelanga, who looks like he wasn't feeling tip top. Otherwise he would have lead more convincingly rather than sporadic bursts. Derrick and Puskedra are really proving themselves dependable in championships. They've got long, great careers ahead of them. Now on to the 3000!
