thats called soccer
thats called soccer
There's a great interview of a former race walker up at trackshark that purports to delve "into the underbelly of this much-maligned activity."

I nearly spewed water all over my computer reading it. It was hilarious!

I agree. What a joke. They're pretty much running, why not just run? That has to be the stupidest thing I've ever seen.
Actually, this is the stupidest thing you've never seen.

Or how about a game where you use a ball but can't touch it with your hands?
More like a game where you although you aren't meant to touch it with your hands, every competitive player does touch it with their hands many times during the match... but it's o.k. as long as you don't make it so obvious that the half blind referee notices.
Not athletes no matter what wrote:
They are NOT ATHLETES I HATE that walking is associated with Track I coach them in the NAIA and I hate it... wish I could get rid of them forever... fat lazy whiny, think they are gods just horrible! Really really really NOT ATHLETES!!!
Idiot jealous runner who could never make big himself, so does it make you feel better to rip on athletes of a higher caliber than yourself, YOU are pathetic, they are judged critically on every move they make, everywhere a racewalker turns theres some one to mock them, ! you could never handle this sport or the criticism
ut why do they use human judges? Couldn't they just put chips in their shoes that can tell if both of their feet are in contact with the ground?[/quote]B\pardon to say but walking is a valid sport the sport is all about judges and there opions yes people do technnicallyy run in racewalking but thats the games even if your liffting it marginal race walking is about the human eye if u were to introduce tech the the racewalking would just not work

I agree. It's pretty dumb. It's kind of like who can whisper the loudest.

Thanks, mitchell, I'm sure he appreciates your response six years later
I find the technique racewalkers use is hilarious to watch, but also just weird. I'd rather they just walked as fast as they could with a normal walking stance, and be penalised if they go into weird need toilet...fast mode.
Keep things looking natural.
Also wouldn't race hiking be more scenic and interesting?
Racewalking a marathon on the track is like hearing who can whisper the longest.

It's called Ultra Running
If they are going to eliminate something from the track and field program, give them racewalking.
