Good stuff coming in from y'all.
I just watched the "Simplot games" on local TV. Great indoor high school track and field action from Pocatello, Idaho. 3 hours coverage, very nicely done. I really enjoy hearing what the young folk have to say when interviewed, inspiring and simply honest, plus some all out great races. Go youth!
Came down with my first injury in a long while.. a show stopper and a first time problem. Injury and the possibility of a slow (age graded) recovery can be difficult as most of us know. Luckily we are wiser and able to put it in context and not go too far to the dark side. Yea...well... maybe sort of. This injury instance:
Right knee pain very bad while trying to run, then pain while walking, biking, sitting, sleeping (or trying to).. namely all the time! I think it was new shoes combined with increase in intensity. Not a traumatic sudden thing, but there it was last Monday morning. Yes some dark doubtful moments, now it seems to have suddenly gone away after an excellent therapy session Friday (thanks Kevin).
Monday: off.
Tuesday: off.
Wed: limped a couple of minutes, abort.
Thurday: strength work, 30 minutes "aqua jogging"
Friday: 50 minutes "aqua jog", therapy.
Saturday: 3x1 mile 10 min., 9 min., 10 min. all o.k.
Sunday: 1 hour @ 9 minute pace or slower. no problems.
Fingers crossed, still fit, hoping to make it to indoor nationals in one piece. After seeing that blue Boston track on TV last weekend, sure would love to run there once again.
Easy does it for now...
Cheers
