Yep the sprints were tough to work into the schedule.
A few pointers on the sprints:
-do the sprints on an ez day and only if you feel like it
-take as much recovery between sprints as needed to feel 100 percent ready for the next one
-be cautious the sprints should NOT become speedwork
-dont time them
-use a rolling start
-gradually accelerate so that you finish at 400 meter speed
Also
the 2 quality days were the focus everything else was in support of the 2 hard days so a day off or jogging at 9 min pace for 3 miles or an ez bike ride were all perfectly good ways to rest up for the hard work.
and finally if you can't do 2 hard days per week and your other days are ez you might need to make your week longer or make your hard days a bit ezr.
At 51 I can still do 2 hard days per week.I eliminated all ez days and long runs.I do bike rides,walks and some rowing instead for ez days.After 50 the term Ez run is a bit oxymoronic;)
