With or without yesterday's race it should be apparent that Ritz is capable of a very low 27 10,000m on the track at the very least with a shot at breaking 27.
His performance yesterday doesn't change any of that.
So let's follow your logic:
a) leaving out yesterday's race, Ritz has done WHAT to make us think he has a shot at breaking 27, and becoming by far the fastest non-African ever? Running 27:30's a few times? Getting injured a lot? Define "shot."
b) Yesterday's race (which was a course record and where he beat Mottram, ie, one of the better ones of his career), doesn't change one bit how we should perceive Ritz's ability? I think it clearly should make us believe he has a better shot at running some fast times than one might have thought before.
In summary, Ritz has no shot a breaking 27, but yesterday's race does make it seem like he could run 27:1x some day. Yesterday's race is indeed an indication that he might run really fast someday. It matters.
