and you letsrunners who want to bash him can actually talk to him after the race too. thats what i did. he's pretty friendly, very well spoken and showed a lot of class for a young guy with a lot of pressure on his performances. i didn't really want to talk about running with him, but he brought it up. said the middle part of the race was kinda tough, as he was on the inside of lane 1 and couldn't get out (just like the observer said). some of the comments he made sound like he wants to focus on 1500/ mile this season.
also, the weather today was the pits. if it was anything like friday's weather, i think the performances overall at the meet would've been better. the sun finally came out after the men's mile (won in 3:58 by barrios. leaders split 58, 1:58, x:xx 3:58 [missed the 1200 split]) with almost no one watching. i remember seeing the guys come off turn 4 into the homestretch at 300m and it was silent. no one was cheering. as they approached the quarter, people started clapping/ cheering, but it was almost embarrassing. very anti-climactic. i felt so bad for some of those kids desperately trying to run hard with basically no support. the adams state and USC kids were runnin hard, and vigil (sitting with me) remarked at the finish, "wow, those guys are tough."
