Bad analogy. If The U.S. had a lot of imports from say, The Caribbean that were getting busted, AND Canada had a prominent import from the same region get busted, that would be a legitimate comparison, and cause for concern.My take is that certain regions and subcultures have a different ethic and mores in regard to making a living through sports, especially in a foreign milieu, and in this case, athletes fromn that region/culture are running aground on the newfound ardor for busting dopers that seems to exist in France currently. Kind of a "Perfect Storm" of cheaters encountering a determined effort to root them out (which I doubt exists in my own country, the U.S., today. Even with BALCO the Feds didn't want to disclose the names of the cheating athletes).

They're not imports; Puerto Ricans in the US are not imports. Algeria wasa department of France (effectively, a state) for over 130 years. When Algeria won independence in 1962, more than a million people left Algeria for France. Millions of Algerians have family in France and vice versa.

Similarly, Morocco was a French colony for several decades and a similar exchange continues between the two countries.

It's a distinct possibility that French runners are not using PEDs at any higher rate than anyone else, but that French officials are more aggressive. Note the Dehiba case: anti-doping authorities found something fishy and alerted customs and that's how they nabbed her. If we had even 1% of that kind of inter-agency cooperation in the US government...well, let's just say there would be a few more office buildings in lower Manhattan than there are now.

Ask the Algerians who were rioting not so long ago how "integrated" they feel into French society at large.

It is a mistake to let PC "awareness" blind you to the obvious fact that these athletes all share one thing- North African descent, whether recent or not.
