Exactly. he removed any moral responsibility for his comments by saying its the law. Perhaps you are not a moral peson either. What would you say about an American who is in jail for drug use? Would you say that it was the law, or would you say that is an unjust law?

Actually I clearly said it was ridiculous. I also wanted to make it clear to a lot of the people who will be crying 'shame' at this behaviour that they live in countries which have the exact same sporting boycotts. You would do more good complaining about your similar local laws if you have them to your representatives than moaning at perceived slights on the internet :)

As an Irish citizen I've found memories of the teams, often including the English, who came to play in Ireland when it wasn't illegal for them to do so but when many other countries were too scared.

I'm definitely not in favour of these laws but the key point is, I wouldn't become a bahraini citizen because I disagree with a lot of their laws. I've sympathy for the kenyans, it's a lot of money that's being thrown at them, but how Mucheru didn't think this would get him in trouble I don't know. I hope some country he'd be happy with offers him citizenship soon.

Mucheru didn't think this would get him in trouble because it shouldn't. Leonard was asked to run for Bahrain, he didn't realize that part of the deal was that he was also supposed to hate. The Bahrainis are morally bankrupt in this position and poor Leonard is stuck in the middle. I too would be happy to help him find a home.

I don't see how this is a total shocker. Many mid-east countries really dislike Israel for whatever reason, so they make it a point to show it. It is like the above poster said about the Fischer incident.

They apparently asked him to change his name. That might have been one clue that taking their money and running would have some strings attached.

I don't feel sorry for Mucheru. So far it appears that everything that has happened is due to choices he made.

Lets see that champion of freedom and Democracy, the US and A, rise up and offer to take Macheru in, even until his paperwork is sorted out and he finds another country that will accept him.

Maybe its because of little details like regularly shooting little kids in the head, or stealing thousands of peoples homes, or even Rachel Corrie. Naw, has to only be because of religion, right? Member..they hate us cuz we're free.

The whole Bobby Fischer debacle proves this thread a waste of time.
