How do you know that these guys weren't just slackers in HS? Maybe the guys you consider to be white collar are guys who worked their asses off in HS? Yeah and he was 19 years old while running a bunch of kids who were mostly 17.

i actually thought this was kinda cool. its nice to see who the people are who have really gone from rags to riches, etc. i feel the cool thing to do around here too often is when you see one guy getting beat up on, beat up on him more just so it will make you more popular.

if im not mistaken, i do know a lot of the guys on this list personally, there are a few who are not rich, also all of them are not rich white kids. lets get our facts straight before commenting

Please! We all know he didn't use the bona fide meaning of the word blue collar, that's just perhaps why he put it in ""?!?!

In this thread "blue collar" means someone who achieved their current success through hard work, given his clearly flawed definition.

But all this crap about them being "rich white boys", how ridiculous can you get? It's clearly not about money, he used the wrong term perhaps t start it, but we all know what he meant so stop going on about it.

Agree with those attacking what he considers to be those that are "untalented and worked hard"(blue collar) compared to those who are "unbelievably talented" (white collar). At High school you get runners who put in massive mileage and hard work and get results and those very talented who don't putt he work in and don't get the results and that can quite easily reverse in college. But for ease of trying to put that table together it's a reasonable enough def. to use. Interesting to look at as well.

Though the OP's concept here IS kind of moronic, I salute his willingness to work with those XC Nats results in an interesting way. OP, any chance of cranking out lists sorted by:

NCAA Region

Class

Conference

High School Footlocker Region

Something else both imaginative and helpful? How about a list showing the places of those who actually did qualify for Footlocker?

Everyone,By making & posting this list, I had no personal agenda. I simply wanted to see who in college had improved the most since their high school senior xc season. (Notice I didn't say their track season)By "blue collar" I meant nothing regarding economic status, race, etc. Blue-collar is a term that people widely throw around on these boards, so I thought I'd use it. Obviously, I've offended most of the people who read this, but I only made the list out of curiosity! There have been some really dumb threads on this site over the years but this one leaves them all in the dust. This wins the award as the most unjustifiably retarded thing ever posted on this site. And the team scores are all off too, I'm looking at teams like American and Virginia who had at least 5 americans who ran in H.S.

this board always amazes me. some guy makes a list of the american guys who didn't make footlocker in high school and he gets ripped apart

He gets ripped apart becuase he says they work harder than the other guys. Why is it that if you made Footlocker you are automatically just coasting by on talent? Why is it if you are foreign (ie from Kenya) you don't have to work as hard as some American for your success?

This was an interesting list in that the people on the list are those that seem to also be smart runners, by that I mean running even or negative splits. They seem to understand the sport of running well, they've worked at it. It is cool to see improvement from HS to NCAA, they still had the desire and the realization that they could get better. Many FL finalists probably think they have a lot of talent and could be unwilling to work even harder at the next level, which is what it requires. I don't want to make a generalization because if you have talent you may be willing to work hard and become better, and if you don't, or if you think you don't, you may be attracted to running just in the realization that you can improve with a good work ethic. If you've listened to some of Chad Hall's interviews, he seems to be humble and realizing that he still has a lot of room for improvement, he doesn't seem to be under a lot of pretension, seems like he has the character that can combine a good work ethic with talent to succeed at the next level. He's already doing a 90 mile a week base and that should pay off in the future.
