That is him. I've seen his photo before. I live in Atlanta and have had an eye out for him for awhile. He doesn't do any local races, he just travels all over the country to cheat in marathons. I've tried to figure out his address but haven't been able. If anyone can find it out let me know because I would really like to pry into his mind
also if you just "look" at the guy from the photos.. if he was in fact a 3:00 hour marathoner... he would definitely look fitter. i.e thinner and leaner.. this guy looks somewhat out-of-shape
And he's a heel striker for chrissakes! No way he ran 3!
It's possible to be a heel striker and run fast. I wouldn't focus on that.
Meanwhile, I found San Fransisco 2003: 3:03:19 for 2nd place age 50 to 54.
Isn't SF a hard course?
Looks like he relocates alot. And improves a lot. Look at this time from 1996. I wish I still lived in Atlanta so I could "bump" into him at a local race.

To Spacelord and anyone else living in Atlanta, start going to the Atlanta races and LOOK for this prick. You need to be armed with "CHEATER!!" stickers. Hell buy some letters from Lowe's and plaster them on his car. But first, follow him home after the race, find out where he lives, and put signs in his yard and send him mail. Badger him into honesty or out of racing.

He has been banned from future Mercedes marathons. Here is an email I rec'd after turning him in.
Thank you for your input. We were aware of Mr Jurena and due to an oversite on our part he was allowed to participate again this year. I forgot to review the awards list before it was sent to the auditorium. Subsequently we have review the results and DQ'd Mr. Jurena based on data from the splits and the "cheater" system on the course. I have notified the USATF Vice Chair for Masters long distance running, John Boyle, of our findings.
Mercedes marathon will be sending a letter to Mr Jurena detailing our findings.

Won 50-54 age group, 51st overall. It would be very hard to cheat at this level of running without getting caught.

I've "ananlized" your splits.
I Googled him and the of the races he's run that I am familiar with it's hard to draw any solid conclusions. He ran the Silver Comet Half in 2001 in a bad time of 1:46, which is unusual b/c this would be a VERY easy course to cheat on (nearly 11 miles of it is on an out and back portion). He had a good time on the Country Music Marathon, missing the chip mat at 10k, which would make sense if he cheated, b/c it's on the "back" portion of an "out and back". Another race I'm familiar with is one that would have been impossible to cut the course (unless someone picked him up and dropped him off) and that's the Charles Harris 10k in 2000 with a time of 50:42. This course is also the easiest course in ATL. Finally, one that is also hard to cheat on is the Atlanta Half in 2002, with a time of 1:42. While this course is difficult, that time is not indicative of a sub-3:00 marathon.
He was also the "Grand masters" champion of some half marathon in Florida in 2004.
You guys have this all wrong. Jurena is totally legit. He's a vet who got hit with a depleted uranium shell, the shrapnel buried in his leg is slightly radioactive and interferes with the chip, depending on how high his foot is off the ground when he goes over the mat.

He didn't start cheating until 2002. If you look at all of his times prior they were well over 4 hours. Beginning in 2002 he cut his times down to low 3 high 2 hours.
ok, so he cheats without a doubt and a loser - but why does he cheat, what does it get him?
