The Bengals first star player was also a 400 hurdler. Paul Robinson out of Arizona.

if i\'m not mistaken, there\'s a new movie coming out, it\'s called invincible. you know, that movie about the a guy named vince papale that made the eagles\' team. the guy that didn\'t play college football becuase he was attending st. joes on a track scholarship. i\'m sure that gatlin could become a decent special teams player if he put his mind to it.

Rocket Ismail was an A-A in the 55m indoors. However, when they got to outdoor and 100m, he had a rough time. Once he got past 60-70m, he was toast.

I was teammates (track) with Tyrone Wheatley in college. Ty won the 100, 200, LJ, and 110H in high school. He said on a couple of occasions that if he could have made anywhere near as much money in track as he did in football, then he would have focused on track. One year, he came out for outdoor track after spring football, trained for three weeks, and won the Big Ten in the 110H. He also qualified for NCAA's that season. He would just start to take off some weight and the season would end. If he would have dropped 25lbs., he probably could have made the finals of the Olympic trials.

Another teammate of mine for a short time was Desmond Howard. He came out for track two days after being presented the Heisman Trophy. Kind of weird to share a ice bath with a guy you just saw on national TV a couple days before. Desmond ended up 4th or 5th at the Big Ten meet in to 55m, but he never got in great shape with his multiple commitments.

Simeon Rice was an excellent 200m guy at University of IL. I also saw him place in the 60m indoors.

This past off-season, cincy Begal players were involved in NINE (no typo!) different arrests. They are all playing.

Bears d-back Ricky Manning, was high on weed at 2AM when he walked into a Denny's just off UCLA's campus. He saw a white geeky kid doing homework on a laptop. He thought it would be funny to take his laptop and beat him until he unconsious with it. He faces a November trial and is still playing.

Ricky Williams failed more drug tests for weed (which is ilegal) than all of Trevor Grahman's althletes failed WADA drug tests combined (which is not illegal). Williams would be playing if he did not break his leg.

Ray Lewis, jaied for mruder. Got off when it was ruled self-defense. Not only is he playing playing, but still has endorsements (EA sports to name one).

Last year half the vikings team was involved in the "love boat" scandal. (they were on a booze cruise on lake Minnetoka when they started having sex in the open with hookers and tried to force the female staff of the boat to get involved). They all played.

I could go on and on but you get the point.

Why on earth would the NFL ban Gatlin for doing something that isn't even illegal? You can kill people and still play in the NFL.

If Gatlin can be a produce NFL player, not only will he keep his Nike contract, he'll get a raise.

He did not kill anyone, rather someone in his crew did. The cops questioned Lewis and he didn't truthfully answer their questions. Therefore he was charged with obstruction of justice. That's bad, but not as bad as homicide.

Oh, that not bad at all. All kids should look at Ray as a role model. Gatlin's high t/e ratio is far worse!!

Drafted in the second round by Dallas in 1969, the 6-foot, 183-pound Flowers had an undistinguished career in the NFL as a safety with the Cowboys (1969-71) and New York Giants (1971-73). He then played one season in the World Football League (1975) before going to law school at Alabama.
