This is clearly some WM JV runner who thinks it’s funny to glaze his teammate who he thinks is “fast”. Too many trolls are on this website and it’s really starting to grind my gears. Why can’t we just have a serious conversation about running?
Honestly don't know what your trying to accomplish by hating on hardworking HS runners. Your name is "1987 NYS champ" That's how I know you peaked in High School. Keep crying about WM, NR and the other talented teams in New York while they continue to win. Waiting for your angry response.

You think your generation works hard? Back in my day we would do double workouts every day. No such thing as an “easy run”. And we didn’t get injured. Just hard work. That’s why NYXC is going down the drain. Everyone nowadays is going soft. You can keep getting upset and insulted put plain and simple that’s the way it is.
Why is anyone talking about past NXN performances. We are talking about who are going to be the best teams this upcoming season.
I swear the people on this board are insane.
We are at a point now where you can't even say someone had a good race without the mobs coming in "YEAH BUT HE DIDNT WIN NXN!!!!! AND IF HE DIDNT WIN NXN I HAVE TO BE NEGATIVE ABOUT EVERYTHING"
I swear someone is going to comment on someone's shotput or long jump and you guys will still find a way to "BUT HE DIDNT WIN NXN" the conversation. Lmao
I think it’s because people are disappointed that for the last few years, NY boys teams finished in the bottom 3 at NXN (and last year in the bottom two)
Good for you I'm glad you worked hard in 1987 I'm sure everyone cares. I can tell you right now your the one angry behind your keyboard while the kids laugh at you. Stay salty unc and turn off the computer

Yeah it’s kinda been down the last few years team wise but the top teams shouldn’t be blamed for that. Individual side last year was pretty good and the future for the team side is looking good. It’s hard to compete with some of the top schools in places like Utah and Cali and idk why everyone just hates on ny.

People think that NXR New York should be combined with Northeast because there are teams that didn’t make NXN from other regions (especially Southwest) that would have won the New York region, because they want NXN to consist of only the best teams in the nation.
I remember that after the NXN 2025 race was over, there was even a thread “Remove New York” where people said that not only should NY not have a region, but to remove cross country from New York

I strongly feel that NXN should consist of the best teams in the nation. I would like it very much if we could get back to the point where at least one or two of those (boys) teams came from NY.
In the first two years of (then) NTN, four NY boys teams with top-10 potential (Lockport 2004; Liverpool, Shen, and Queensbury 2005) got left home, no consideration for bids. Saratoga had to sweat out an at-large bid in ‘05 and then won the championship. NY also had the individual boys winner at NTN in ‘06 (Murdock). This, plus the overwhelming dominance of NY’s girls, led to NY becoming its own Region in 2007.
While the NY girls continued to steamroll everybody over the next decade plus, the NY boys also punched above their weight. Gritty team performances were the norm, not the exception. One year, FM took 2nd at NXN after finishing 3rd at their state meet. Three teams in the top-10 at least once. Etc, etc.
Now, it seems like the paradigm has shifted dramatically. Corning is the only NY boys team in the past 4 years to put out anything better than a “well, we’re happy just to be here” performance. People who follow the sport in NY are understandably frustrated by this, because we are used to much better.
I think NY has some things working against it compared to other areas of the country:
-smaller school enrollments and enrollment tied to district residence (some of these other regions have schools w/ a 3-4K student population).
-soccer (at least for girls) is a fall sport, but is a spring sport in other states, so again less chance of getting some talent
-Lacrosse - very much a regional sport, but syphons kids into the year-round "travel" hell of this generation. Again, always existed at a high level in CNY, but I think on the girls side, it has increased. ***Kids used to see the writing on the wall at high school tryouts, and pivot to their newfound sport of running. I think that still happens in large districts where cuts are inevitable. In NY, I think there's a greater chance of you making the team and sticking with the bench because of the time and financial commitment you've made since the age of 7 or 8. Even if you get cut, there's still your "travel" team that allows you to keep playing. And even dual sports kids, or those willing to take a chance on running, will never relinquish their first sport, and thus don't progress as much as they could in running.
-Let's face it, for a variety of reasons, other states are becoming more destination places to raise a family. Highly "successful" people are choosing to raise their families in economically advantaged communities. They value physical fitness (think Bend, Oregon), and will do whatever is necessary to see their kid succeed.
New York has a lot going for it, in terms of training environment (no extreme heat or cold), history/tradition, coaching, etc. but some schools in the SW have a 1 in 30 shot of developing an NXN scorer, and I think there are finer margins in NY.
Just watch out for Farmingdale man. They got some guys who are ready for a breakthrough and a team that is hungry to be in the conversation. Could be a surprise come November. I’ve been right before and they have my pick.
9th in section 8 to one of the top teams in the state is an awfully big jump
