True story: they're using Ato Bolden today because Carol ate Lewis Johnson. Quite the tragedy to be honest with you.

TO MAKE IT EVEN WORSE, I JUST MISSED 5 MINUTES OF COVERAGE BECAUSE THE LOCAL STATION CUT IN TO TELL US ABOUT A TORNADO WATCH IN A PART OF THE STATE THAT HAS A POPULATION OF LESS THAN 1 PERSON PER SQUARE MILE (I'm not kidding, at all, and yes, I really am shouting).
Just shoot me already..
BANG!!
How are things in Nebraska?
Thank you. It's really hot here, and I didn't get my 47 virgins, but at least Carol Lewis isn't here.

Doh!! Now I know why they call this hell!
I only came to this site right now to see all the entertaining distance dweebs cry themselves silly about not getting to see all the 1500.
Thanks for not disappointing, skinny nerds!
Wait...you're actually complaning about an emergency broadcast system warning? I guess God forgot to stop all of the natural disasters today since the NCAA meet is on. Didn't he know BYU had a lot of athletes out there?
damnit. they didn't show anything for the women's 1500.
I'm sure in time Tom will be very pleased to have won the team title, he is very much a team player.
I can't beleive these idiot interviewers trying to make him celebrate after losing a race he's trained for all year, especially after he ran so bravely.
I thought Sally Gunnell was bad on UK TV but it seems you guys have got it worse!
It wasn't the emergency broadcast thing - we had that too. It was the local weather dude trying to get some major face time.
It was as painful as listening to Carol. And not getting my virgins...
As I said on another thread, they absolutely REFUSE to show more than 400 meters of continuous running. I'll bet money that some executive who studies viewer surveys strictly prohibited them from doing it. The casual viewer will turn it if they have to watch more than a minute for some sort of resolution.[/quote]
It's pretty funny. Shortly after you wrote that, the only race longer than 400 meters that they showed in the entire broadcast was the complete men's 3000 meter steeplechase. They went from nothing to the whole race. Not either of the 800s. Not a second (yet) of the women's 1500, and not more than the last 50 meters of a very exciting (from what I've read) women's steeple.
And I didn't get to see it because they cut away to weather info FOR 7 STRAIGHT MINUTES.
WHO GIVE A F*** ABOUT TRACK? NO MONEY, NO GOAL, NO EXITEMENT, THAT'S WHY THEY PAY ME 34 MILLIONS A YEAR. SOCCER CHAMPION, RONALDINHO GAUCHO
The only people (other than distance runners) anyone wants to watch are black people running fast, thats why they showed the 1,2,4 (men and women)
America love them black people

THE point is that no one much cares about track. EXCEPT people who follow it! So instead of dumm'n down the meet for TV... how about stepping it up!! Have people make intelligent comments, interview the top coaches and talk strategy, etc.
CBS = lick my ball$
i have to say that this live coverage is better than nothing but really how bad could they screw up that 1500s? Yeah, I'm sure most people would rather see a triple jumper walk back to a bench than an actual race. They should have stuck with the picture in picture. It was terrible. they totally skipped the women's 1500 in favor of about 10 minutes of commercials and the 25th recap of the 100. If the FSU coach hadnt refused to be interviewed until after the steeple they would have shown that during the race, then gone to commercial and come back just in time to show McAdams crossing the line. It was stupid how they kept hyping a team race when FSU needed 7 pts in the triple, 1500, and steeple to win and they got 23. Not close at all.
