goucher and coe in the same sentence is like comparing clay aiken to elvis presley.
any splits of Gouch and Lincoln during their 2mile?
I know they went through in 4:07 first mile, but what about the final mile? and relative lap splits.
hmmm well if they went through in 4:07 and finished in 8:12, i guess that would make Goucher's last mile a 4:05. Lets work on the math champ.
Seems to me that Lincoln did to a lot of the work, but when it came time to make a move on the africans Goucher was the one who ran balls to the wall. Their last 8 was close to 2:01. It would have been nice to see them both closer before the last lap, but I think it is weak to say that Goucher sat on Lincoln. Props to both for running tough in an incredibly stacked field.
Goucher did not look particularly strong in the beginning of the race. It was actually kind of funny seeing a line of 6 or 7 africans, then three white guys at three laps. But Teg, Goucher and Lincoln all worked well together and really moved up well. I was impressed, and it was really fun to watch. Webb on the other hand...
i don't see how anyone can't see how hard lincoln worked in this race. that was probably the toughest race i've ever seen anyone run. it's hard to say that when a guy gets 4th and never held the lead but they way he reeled those guys back in was amazing. goucher ran a great race as well, but he certainly let lincoln do the work, watch the last three laps. lincoln was in the lead (of the second pack) the whole time, and when it came time to dig down and go after them, it was lincoln in front. it looked like our two even had a chance to go 1-2 heading into the turn, but around the turn and on the home straight the africans showed why they've been so successful on the world stage already. amazing times and amazing race, i couldn't be prouder of anyone than i was of daniel as he gave it all he had to reel those guys in.
Is the world about to end? It's hard to believe a whole thread on Letsrun.com and apparently no one posting the usual negative comments????
Edith, Edith, I'm coming to see you! This is the big one. I'm having a heart attack!

No, it's not.
Goucher did that lap because - as usual - we shoot for second. Winner gets a lap as well as the first American, because an American could never beat an African. And that\'s despite a great effort by all (sans Webb). In truth I\'m sure Goucher did the lap b\'c he\'s an Oregon guy now under Salazar.
G$ won because he out-toughs anyone. On a broken foot, anytime, anywhere, he\'ll get you at the end.
That was one of the best track races I ever watched. For a brief moment there I thought Lincoln and Goucher were picking up to a pace faster than the Africans had been running their first 5 laps.
Man what a gutsy race, I thought for sure that Lincoln and Goucher would both be around 8:10 after watching the surge. Lincoln did do most of the work on the comeback, but I knew Goucher was going to get him on the home stretch.
I honestly thought Kipchoge was going to post an 8:02-3.
OK, Clay Aiken to John Lennon.
Clay Aiken to Elvis is not that inaccurate. I thought it was spot-on, actually.
