Well that HIGH SCHOOL girl Megan O'Rielly would have been 2nd overall in the race. she ran a 16:26 last week-end at UW.

This must have already been posted somewhere - but Rupp went 13:48 tonight at Washington (MSPF). Silencing the critics. {quote}
Was Salazar all over his &&^%*(&& when it was all over?

injecting his ass again
I am so happy to see Mineau doing well! I remember watching the distance runner w/ dreads run in highschool. I hoped he would kick ass in college and it looks he is on his way to doing just that! Awesome!
Trujillo helped with the pace off the start. According to the Oregon site Rupp finished very strong.
The Portland native and Central Catholic High School product took the lead in the final mile of the race and clocked an unofficial split of 4:14 after first and second mile splits of 4:32 and 9:01, respectively.
So he ran his last mile in 4:14 a week after running a mile in 4:11(which probably had to do with some kind of workout or something).
Im concerned about Rupp being "on zomething" after dropping that much time. Goucher too!! Known fact that Alberto will do anything to run quick!!
bullcorn
It`s not concern you feel, it`s envy. One can easily confuse the two. Idiot!

You answer your own question. No drugs could drop that kind of time that quickly.
Did Salazar rub his legs down with DMSO after the race ?
I THINK RUPP WAS NOT EVEN TRYING AND HE WAS USING THIS AS A WORK OUT.tHIS KID CURE EASILY DO A TEMPO 9:00 SEC. TWO MILES PEOPLE, DONT BELIVED CHECK 10K TIMED.
SO THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED ON THE RACED RUPPED DID A TWO MILE TEMPO AND THE LAST MILE ON RACED PACE TO GET SOME MENTAL TOUGHTNESS AND PRACTICED ON HIS FINISHING KICK.
i THINK IF HE WOULD HAVE WENT ALL OUT HE WOULD HAVE RUN UNDER 13:35,

What made him drop so much is that HE WAS NOT THAT SLOW to begin with. That 411 mile went out in 56 and rupp tried to hang with the pace the best he could and died off a thte end and jogged it in. He was in 403-404 shape probably but not off that kind of pace, at this point in his training. It pushed him over the redline.
Well... They had three autos in the women's 3000 and 3 sub-8:00 in the men's 3k today, so I don't think they're falling apart. My guess is they're treating indoor like they always treat indoor - but just don't have an Ian Dobson level guy to run 13:45 and win an NCAA championship.
Consider though how babied and put on a platform Galen has been. I am much more impressed by Josh McDougal. That cat runs as fast as Galen all by himself on his home track. Galen is not the future...

I think that Josh himself would say it doesn't matter. Why can't Rupp and McDougal both be part of the future of American distance running? Both have done very well so far. Rupp has run 13:37 and 28:15. 13:48 indoor is at least equal to 13:37, so he's not burnt out like some people like to say. McDougal has range from a 4:01 indoor mile to 4th at the NCAA XC championship as a sophomore.
American distance running doesn't need a great hope -- it needs a lot of them -- and now it's getting them. McDougal, Rupp, Ritz, Webb, Hall, Withrow, Solinsky, Goucher, Lukezic, and more all belong on this list.
Way to go Hari Mix!
If Rupp was able to go 4:32, 9:01, and then come home in 4:14, he's obviously in very good shape and with tough competition and good pace probably could have gone well under 13:40. He seems to come more alive for track. Like I said somewhere else, He'll probably go 13:22-13:27 this year.

Once again, his 7:49 3k from last year translated to roughly a 13:25 5k, so he'd better go 13:22-13:27. Anything slower would be a disappointment. Personally, I think he has a shot to crack 13:20 this year if he runs smart and doesn't overrace, which is hard to do when you have to compete collegiately.
Next year Oregon is going to be getting a lot of good, young talent, so it's very plausible in the next couple of years that they could have a pretty decent xc team. If Oregon wasn't getting any good recruits next year though, it seems like it would make more sense for Rupp to turn pro after this season, especially if it is a breakout season where maybe he runs low 13:20, sub 28, etc. He could then change his traning schedule to suit his desires and not have to conform to a rigid NCAA schedule. But with the prospect of a potential team in development, does he owe it to the University(or his teammates?) to hang around and try to make something of it?
