In Mobile, it's currently 74F & light 9mph wind. So 90 minutes ago, it was probably in the higher 60's. Any cooler would've required a light jacket.
Definitely appreciate the report, but do we have to handicap another race like we do with almost all of them?
How about considering how the conditions apply to the racers, not the spectators? Also, if it's 74 currently, then it was probably just a couple degrees cooler 90 minutes ago. The coast typically has rather low diurnal temperature swings. Even upper 60s and humid makes for muggy racing conditions.
Screw the friggin conditions. Gebrselassie ran 27:57 with a 54 second last 400 in Seville 6 years ago when it was 95 bloody degrees. Ritz ran well, won, and now it's on to the next one. If you people have so much time to sit there and type out your little analyses, you need to buy a hobby.

We're creating a pretty darned small weather window here for good racing. The 50's is marathon weather and too cold for most 10K'ers. So, anything outside of lower 60's, no wind and low humidity handicaps the runner and deserves some asterisk as a better effort than the time indicates?
Why aren't Larson, Culpepper, and Young in that group?

Nope, but you're the one saying it was basically nothing and made for ideally conducive conditions. The gulf coast is often muggy this late in the year, and upper 60s or lower 70s would mean exactly that. It would feel rather warm to someone who's been training at altitude where it's consistently been 50s-60s and dry. I know, I've actually gone from the Rockies, where it was 50s-60s and dry for a long spell, down to the gulf coast, where it was low 70s, and I was sweating buckets.
Gawd is right, although the vulgarity was not necessary. At race time the temperature was 71 and the humidity 89. This might not feel too hot in the middle of August when one is acclimated to the heat, but it's hard in November. Anyone who has been running for many years knows the first few days of hot and humid weather are difficult, but then one gets used to them. Ritz ran a fine race.

The humidity's been upper 60's, lower 70's so far today. Not the best, but everything can't have 'dream mile' settings. 71F, 70% humidity and low wind is actually an above average racing day. Plus, I used to live in Memphis and actually raced in Alabama during the summer. I don't recall any horrible, localized race conditions awaiting, unless it was a 99F summer day.
What about the women's race?
You're the only one saying "horrible." We aren't talking about how the locals and hobby joggers would feel about the racing conditions, either.

What are the weather parameters in which we don't have to handicap the athletes? 60-64F? Less than 40% humidity? Less than 10mph wind? Anything outside of these, then the runner's competing in notably tough weather? Perfect days are the ones that deserve an asterisk, because they rarely happen.
Ideal racing conditions would be around 50 degrees with low humidity. The longer the race the more a lower temperature can be tolerated and the less a higher temperature can be tolerated. Anything approaching 70 degrees, especially with Gulf Coast humidity, isn't going to be "ideal".
