Do you really think he's going to respond? In fact, I think he gave Galen the quote of the day just to direct people to the YouTube video to say, "See how bad of an interview Galen is?" When the truth is that WeJo is like a tabloid...going for 'salacious' track stories and gotcha moments. It's just gross.

that was a crap interview done by wejo. im not the fondest of the brojos but i dont hate them either (they do us a service with the site and all) but the bashing and "GOTCHA" moments they tend to pull on rupp is getting out of hand.
you can tell that by now galen doesnt appreciate the brojos because his answers to the other interviewers were all much more pleasant and detailed, then when wejo pops in you can see the change in body language. wejo, you couldve waited or at least asked galen (not tell, ask) if he knew about the 5k record loss. let him live in the moment a bit and maybe even let him figure it out on his own, piss poor timing on that one.

Now is the moment when Wejo plays the "drudge report makes politics interesting, we make track interesting" card. Or the "there's trash talking in football so why not in track" card.
But the only one he needs to play is the "I'm sorry for being needlessly antagonistic" card--which he never does.
He'll at least hear about this thread. He responded to my bitch about the screwed up photo of Geoff Hollister.
That wasn't the best interview, but that is on both Rupp and WeJo in this case.
Devil's advocate for a sec though - if WeJo ignored it, he would have been bashed on here for missing an opportunity.
The site has it's flaws and I'd love to see them work on some things, but it's far more of a useful service than not.
I don't think anyone is saying they care that he was asked about it. The problem is with how he was asked. It was a "gotcha" statement, not a real question.
The first thing I though when I heard the questions was "How can anyone answer that?"
I actually laughed out loud at how awkward of a "question" that was on Wejo's part. How do you really respond to that? I think Galen kept it classy though and in general I like the BroJo's.
It was an awkward question from Wejo, but I don't think he said it to have a "gotcha" moment or try to get to Rupp or anything like that. He just asked the question awkwardly. Maybe he should have said, "Lagat got your record in the 5k, any thoughts on that or do you think you'll try to get it back this season?" That would have been a perfectly fine question, but the way Wejo worded it, it was "Lagat got your record in the 5k" and the question "tell us your thoughts/plans on that" is implied. If you watch a lot of the interviews he does, they come out like that...they are questions without question marks. Like go back to the interviews from the US Outdoor Champs. He'll say something like, "You closed your race really fast" and there will be a 5 second pause before the athlete realizes there's no question coming.

He didn't ask a question at all.
I have no problem with the BroJos as people, and I recognize the service they provide with this board.
But when they attempt journalism, their lack (to the best of my knowledge) of any real background or training in that field really hurts them.
Everyone here knows that being a good runner takes a lot of work over some years, and usually some good coaching along the way. Well, surprise, the same is true for being a good journalist.
In my opinion, a good journalist would definitely have brought up Lagat's breaking the 5k AR - it's news, it's a key issue, and whether a subject is going to be happy or unhappy about a question should not bear on whether it gets asked or not. But a good journalist would have asked an actual question, and done so in a way that raised the odds of getting a decent answer. In fact, the whole interview was awkward and unprofessional. That can happen to the best of journalists, but it seems to be a real pattern with most LRC interviews.
Bottom line: get some coaching and practice the craft of interviewing, or hire someone who has done so.
I'd donate a thousand dollars to the charity of his choice if Rupp would just quip one day back at Wejo: "Are you really such a clueless douchenozzle that you don't know what a dumb-assed question that is?"
Rupp has a lot of tolerance and class...not to roll his effing eyes, the whole while knowing that Blojo co-owns a site that allowed the kind of low class message board comments against Rupp that we all know about...

Agreed. Wejo just can't figure it out, can he? It's the same thing every time no matter how much of a fool he makes of himself and how much he gets bashed on here for being such a classless jackass. I'm surprised athletes talk to him at all, but it seemed like Rupp was trying to ignore him as best he could. You could totally tell Rupp was like, "wtf?"
WOW! I finally just watched the interview. Rupp does NOT like Wejo. Understandable, of course. But you could clearly see Rupp's demeanor change and he could not get away fast enough once Wejo started talking. Dayum!

Rupp is an ADULT. HE acted like a baby.
This is how Rupp could have responded:
a. I hope he enjoys having it, because I am coming for him.
b. Records are meant to be broken aren't they?

c. Lagat is not born in America so it does not count in my book.
He chose to act like it was an insulting question. It was poorly put out there by Wejo I will agree, but Rupp's response was that of a crybaby.
