        Kipchoge's 2:00:25 will be remembered long, long after the WR is broken. In fact, I really doubt that anyone will ever talk about the marathon WR without caveating that it wasn't as fast as Kipchoge's performance this past weekend. It's like he hung a big asterisk on the actual WR, when we all thought it'd be the other way around.

      • I'm sure he made at least a million dollars for his efforts. Plus, now he can go run a marathon in 4-6 months and smash the WR. And an race after this one will be easy physically and mentally.

      • If mutai had held on and beat kimmeto in only the single race, kimmeto would just be an "also ran." No one would remember him. You can't say that about kipchoge

      • Think about it, Eliud basically got paid millions to train for what, 7-8 months with Nike?

        He didn't have to worry about money, food, etc. Just train. He is probably in the best shape of his life right now, physically and mentally. I think he will break the WR if he goes for it in the near future. I really hope he does. I don't think he will become complacent and stagnate, I really hope he doesn't.

      • If the weather conditions are good and the pacing for the first 25K is on target I see no reason why he can't run under 2:02.
