If the decent runners actually consider themselves runners they will be able to recognize that you beat them because you're better at running, not because you're a dick. It's unfair and makes no sense for the fast people to be excluded from their own sport because they're too good at it.

So I know my local Turkey Trot is full of hobby joggers but will have a few decent runners. Yes it is a race, not a fun run. If the same sort of crowd shows up again this year, I should be able to win it easily. So is it douchy to plan to crush everyone or should I just go to the track and do a TT instead?
Be friendly to the runners you beat. Give out a few compliments to a few if the runners you crush.

Win. It's fine as you don't give it 100% at the chute and collapse at the line.

How do you make a decision in your life? Seriously, go run the race. Don't go run the race. NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOUR RUNNING BUT YOU!

For the love of all that is holy, give it everything you've got! I'm a total hobby jogger but I plan on busting my giblets and gravy to scrap up a new PR at the local Turkey Trot. If I learned that I lost to some turkey who was sandbagging, I'd be pi$$ed. DESTROY that Turkey Trot and spare no prisoners!
