Same thought.
Rupp looked okay with about 250m to 300m left..then just fell off.

Fml autocorrect. Marathon could be interesting. Hopefully he won't regret not focusing on one race.
Was that to protect his legs a little for the marathon? Why hedge like that?

He was wearing racing flats (trainers?). Did that negatively affect his speed? Maybe he should've worn spikes.

Did he look relaxed though?
Have you been watching the Worlds the last few years. It's like deja vu. I'm watching every year thinking, "He looks great he's going to medal and then with 300 to go it's instantly over."

Oh well, he can still run a hell of a lot faster than of us!
Thing about that...same result at worlds and he wasn't training for a marathon. London came right after they started their Farah/Rupp project. And it got Rupp a silver. Farah kept rolling and Rupp got used to 5th/6th place.

I was thinking something like this too.

I wonder if he cost himself another medal by just staying with the pack. Rupp seems very strong right now, but not as fast as 2012. If he would've taken the lead with 5 or 6 laps to go and pushed the pace he might've been able to get away from at least two of those who finished ahead of him. Farah still most likely wins and Tanui kicked well (though not unbelievably so), but the two Ethiopians were barely ahead of Rupp and I think he could've had them if he had pushed a little earlier.
Pretty sure they were racing flats with a spike plate...

Good post on an otherwise absurd thread.
