      • Sharika Nelvis just ran 12.34 (wind-legal) in the women's 100 hurdles prelims. She's #7 on the all-time World list (third American). Fastest time since Brianna Rollins' 12.26 AR in 2013.

      • The prelims suck to watch because they're all trying to run slower than the other heats, then Rowbury was almost out when someone took her shoe off.

        This is because qualifying is by place, so runners want to save more energy then those in other heats.

        If all qualifying would be by time, as is done in swimming and other sports, then the athletes from different heats would NOT be trying to run slower than each other.

        The heats would be more interesting, faster, and more worthwhile for the runners.

      • Grunwald blocked the whole field 80 meters in, then wouldn't lead but kept the leader running wide. A very inconsiderate person and runner!

        No, not taking control to make sure her heat was fast is what did her in. Hopefully she learned a lesson.

      • It's Friday night, it's hot as hell and there's not much real racing going on.
        It'll be interesting to see the difference between tickets sold and butts in seats.

        I can imagine people in Eugene finding something better to do than sit in the heat and watch sprints.

        To support your point, I got a Duckmail a few days ago saying I could still get great seats for this weekend.

        Do you really think that there is anything else to do in Eugene on a Friday night? There were both the w1500 and m steeple semis. Anyone who has any interest in distance running would want to see them. Both 100M semis and finals are today. I know there aren't a lot of blacks in Eugene but come on. Those are the glamor events on the track and next to nobody there bothers to show up and watch? A joke.
