for Geb, that is a base building week, completely aerobic, apart from the 10x100 which does not interfere with aerobic conditioning anyway and can be done at any time of the year.

G'day Mr canova
I've read quite alot of your work and used alot of your examples through out my university course with regards to distance running. I'm 23 years old and been running for ten years and looking for expierence and advice that i could use to help my coaching future. I was wondering if would be a tall possible to gain some expierence through you, just observing your groups training and your coaching methods.
Any help would be great

Lets pack our bags and spend a summer with Canova if possible.
Canova any interest in doing that?
SAY IT AIN'T SO
NOOO
hmm
still alive?
anyone there
I am pritty sure it is safe to say that, at Hile did not get as good as he is from low miles and fast reps. I think what you where looking at what his in season training. And 50 years ago Lyidard realized that, once the racing starts. The high milage has got to end if you want to be running fast. Stated that Snell and his guys would do around 60 min in the morning. To maintain there fitness, looks a lot like what Hile was doing. Stated with doing that and a shorter long run each week they could keep there fitness for about six weeks befor there proformace started to decline.
Renato,
Do you know anything about Gabrielle Rosa's group and his training? If so, could you please post something about it?
Thanks

Renato these posts are fantastic. Wonderful work.
How would these paces have to be adjusted for runners aged 50 and over? For these folks, 6 to 7-minute miles are pretty much anaerobic.
How would you approach an older runner who, although obviously lacking International Calibre talent, still has a passion for racing?
Most of the members of my running club are now past age 45.
We have very few under age 40, now.

yeah, that's about right
This thread died over a year ago.
Post it on the giant thread. Renato reads and replies to that.
OK, thank you. I just noticed the dates. (red faced)
It would seem fair to say from the programmeson this thread that if you can maintain 2 hours a day or more for several years you will not run slowly. I suspect that far too many athletes want returns too quickly. Older brits will remember European marathon Chgampion Ian Thompson who ran 100mpw for years and did not realise that he was becoming great until he won the AAAs marathon after making up the numbers for his club team.
