2009 LetsRun.com Quote of the Year and Athlete of the Year Voting
January 30, 2010
Just when you thought 2009 was over, we have the finals of the 2009 LetsRun.com Quote of the Year and US Athlete of the Year voting.
Quote of the Year
The voting is very simple. Previously we gave you LetsRun.com Quotes of the Day from each of the 12 months. You all picked your favorites and have narrowed it down to the 12 quotes of the month for each month in 2009 (with 2 entries from January since there was a virtual tie).
Now from the 13 finalists you pick your favorite. Pretty simple.
US Athlete of the Year
Then you go to vote for the US athlete of the year.
On the women's side there are 4 finalists. In alphabetical order: Jenny Barringer (9:12.50 AR for 5th at Worlds in the steeple, a shocking 3:59.90 for 2nd at Prefontaine, 15:01i for 5k, DN Galan champ at 5k, NCAA records at 1500, 3k, and 5k), Kara Goucher (3rd at Boston Marathon, 10th at World Champs, US 5k champ, 68:05 half marathon, Millrose mile champ), Shannon Rowbury (bronze medal at the Worlds in the 1500m, US Champ), and Anna Willard (4 major 800m wins, Brussels And Paris Golden League, Reebok NYC And World Athletics Final for $30k, 3:59.38 for 1500 and 2nd at Weltklasse 1500, 2nd at US steeple).
On the men's side 3 runners stood out in 2009: Meb Keflezighi (NYC Marathon Champion), Bernard Lagat (world championship silver at 5k, bronze at 1500), and Dathan Ritzenhein (12:56.27 American record at 5k, bronze medal in 60:00 at the World Half Marathon Champs and a 27:22 for 6th place at the Worlds 10k). Those are your 3 choices.
There is no login required to vote. We just use your computers cookie and ip address to see if you've voted. (So if two people in the same household want to vote, open up a new browser, but we do record the IP so no need to try and rig the votes).
