Mary Keitany (2:18:37 pb) may be a Paula Radcliffe type talent, but she'll have her hands full in NYC in her first marathon in two years. She'll be challenged by former double World Champ Edna Kiplagat, and NYC champs Jelena Prokopcuka and Firehiwot Dado, plus 2013 runner-up Buzunesh Deba. Desiree Linden leads the American field, which also includes 41-year-old Deena Kastor (shooting for 2:25) and Kara Goucher, in her first marathon since April 2013.
He'll face Simon Cheprot (59:20) and Azmeraw Bekele (59:39). Ethiopia’s Firehiwot Dado leads the women's field with Correti Jepkoech (31:05 10K) and Helah Kiprop (1:07:19).
Terer ran 2:08:07 to beat Evans Chebet by 10-seconds. Cuthbert Nyasango was 3rd in a Zambabwe NR of 2:09:52. Moses Mosop had a disappointing race running 2:20:37 for 12th. 2011 NYC champ Dado dominated the women's race in 2:23:34.
Mosop says he's not at 100% and faces five sub-2:07 guys. 2011 New York Marathon champion Firehiwot Dado leads the women's field against Flomena Chepchirchir (2:23:00).
The 1:07:03 runner will face a deep field with 7 sub-70-minute runners including 2-time World XC champ Emily Chebet (1:08:20) and former NYC Marathon champ Firehiwot Dado (1:08:35). In the men's field there are 4 sub-60-runners and 2 more who have ran just over, led by Philemon Limo (59:30) and Hunegnaw Mesfin and Peter Kirui (both 59:39).
1:07:03 woman Joyce Chepkirui leads women's field that includes 2-time World XC champ Emily Chebet, Worknesh Debele (1:07:49) and 2011 NYC Marathon champ Firehiwot Dado. The men are led by Atsedu Tsegay (58:47), 2012 New York Half Marathon winner Peter Kirui and 2011 Prague winner Philemon Limo.
Tsegay ran 58:47 there in 2012 and this year will face Kenya’s sub-60 man Philemon Limo. The women's field is led by Ethiopia’s 2011 NYC champ Firehiwot Dado.
