Sara Hall and Zane Robertson rave about them. ""I definitely can run faster in them. I can't really imagine going back to anything I've run in before after running in these," said Hall in ad that features her.
Hall thinks she despite becoming a parent, not because of it, but says she was willing to give up running to be a mom. "I see a correlation where my kids feel empowered to go after their dreams. Before kids, I struggled with not always seeing the positive impact of my running on others. It feels really self-centered. The upside now is that I don’t have as much of a conflict with that. I see the positive effects in real time.”
Hall has always had great range from mid-distance to the marathon and now is enjoying the success her non-standard approach is brining. “In my mind, I flash back to times that you are thinking you aren’t even good at this spor. It makes you realize that, wow, when you hear those voices, don’t believe those voices.”
“[The scale] doesn’t tell me anything because I’m not trying to be a certain weight. I focus on my energy levels and figure when I’m fueling well and not eating a lot of junk, my body finds where it needs to be.”
Hall says he hash more energy now, has fixed his testosterone levels and is eating more now than when he was running 20-miles a day. Sara Hall says they used to call Ryan a "dead man walking", but now his nickname is "Shrek."
*MB: Ryan Hall: a dozen eggs per day (yes, that's 84 eggs per week !!!!)
Hall says she's doing it for the "joy of doing it", but that she still plans to run the track trials despite the short turn around time.
Kamworor: “I expect stiff competition tomorrow but for me, I’m looking forward to defending the title I won in 2014."
A ton of great insights and quotes from and about Hall in this piece. Like Mary Wittenberg and Sara Hall calling his 2016 retirement back in 2008 and Ryan Hall admitting that neglecting speed and the track to focus purely on the marathon was a mistake.
Hall: “Ryan has been overseeing my training and telling me I was ready for a fast one."
"He has been genuinely joyful and at peace ever since the decision. It was clear to him, and there were no second thoughts."
Some very heartwarming stuff in here. Quotes from Dathan Ritzenhein, Alan Webb, Alicia Shay, Bill Rodgers and more.
She also reveals that Ryan is coaching her for the Trials buildup.
Chelsea Reilly, Emma Bates, Jenn Rhines, Becky Wade also racing. Men's field is lead by Ben Blankenship, Chris Thompson and Sean Quigley.
It's definitely worth giving his tricks a try, considering he helped Sara Hall recover from her debut at the LA Marathon and finish 20th at World XC Champs less than 2-weeks later.
Quotes from Molly Huddle, Sara Hall, Kim Conley, Sam Chalenga, Tyler Pennel.
Huddle: “I feel like the 5K and half marathon training, at least the way I do it, is not very different. Any given workout is going to apply to any of those distances. The mile for me is usually a one-time, painful hit for me if I can do it. My first half marathon, my coach was like just run your 10K PR and keep going. And I was like, ‘What kind of strategy is that?’ It’s a range that isn’t as far apart as people think it is.”
She says that in the first half she was "running with a good pack of guys" but struggled to keep pace when she was left on her own the second half of the race.
On her first week as a mom, she banged out a 115 mile week.
