The group will be called the On Athletics Club and features eight athletes (the remainder will be announced soon) led by
Joe Klecker, who was signed before Ritz and given veto power over the coach of the group. Klecker will make his pro debut at the Music City Distance Carnival on August 15 and Ritz says he's in incredible shape. "I did that exact workout at sea level a month before I ran 12:56 and broke the American record...He’s doing the kind of quality work that I was doing at my best."

Ritzenhein accomplished a lot during his career as he won two HS Foolocker xc crowns and one NCAA xc title, made three Olympic teams, amassed pbs of 12:56.27, 27:22.28, 60:00, and 2:07:47, and won world medals in xc (jr race) and the half marathon.

Chronic foot issues led to flare-ups in other areas, which caused the 36-year-old to withdraw ahead of the race on October 13. He still plans on racing the Olympic Trials in February.
