Kendell Williams missed the chance to break her own collegiate pentathlon record, but finished well enough (4558 points) for the 8th best score in NCAA history.
The record is held by Kendell Williams at 4678.
Williams set the collegiate lead in the LJ (6.54m) to win at Virginia Tech and also won the 60H (8.21). Elsewhere Raven Saunders set a collegiate lead and a US junior record in the shot put with 17.64m. Texas A&M sprinters had a good weekend with Deon Lendore running 45.68 in the 400 to win at home and Shavez Hart running a collegiate-leading 20.57 over 200.
Non-distance action included: Texas A&M's Bralon Taplin running 45.78 in the 400, Florida running the #12 all-time NCAA indoor 4x400 with 3:50.50, Kendell Williams #2 all-time pentathlon score (she also has the record), Georgia's Keturah Orji setting the US junior TJ record at 13.98m.
Brit Morgan Lake completed a unique double gold with the heptathlon and HJ while Cuba's Lazaro Martinez set a championship record in the TJ (17.08m).
High school sophomore Kaylin Whitney set a World Youth best (ages 15-17) with 22.49 as Trentavis Friday ran a wind-aided 20.03 (+2.9) for the fastest junior 200m time in any conditions. NCAA heptathlon champ Kendell Williams won the 100H breaking Kristi Castlin's US Junior record with 12.87.
