Abrahamson says Ashton and Brianne Thiesen-Eaton are exactly the feel-good story track and field needs right now.
Brianne: "Seeing him calms me down. When you are in a stressful situation, competing at something like this, sometimes you want to give up or [you think], ‘I just can’t handle this pressure anymore.’ But seeing him on the sideline running toward me to help me with something helps calm me down a little bit and being able to celebrate this with him is really awesome and the cherry on the top.”
Romantics might be disappointed to know that her first kiss was not Ashton Eaton.
Coach Harry Marra explains it can take weeks to figure out which meets and events Ashton and Brianne Eaton will be doing.
Right now she's Mrs. Silver as she's finished runner-up in three consecutive world championships (two outdoor, one indoor).
Brianne Theisen-Eaton says she wanted a training partner besides Ashton because it's often disheartening when he catches onto things so much more easily than her.
She now has three world silver medals (two outdoor, one indoor). “It still eats me alive. I look at the medal and I think, ‘This is a failure.’”
“It gets frustrating. You put in so much work and nobody really knows what you do. I can’t blame people for that, it’s just unfortunate that that’s the state of track and field in North America.”
And you thought Brianne was dangerous with a javelin.
