Gotcher has the 4th fastest AMerican debut in history with 2:10:36, but hasn't ran faster since. He's battle through 3-years of injuries since 2012, but now feels like he's back to his old self and "can run 2:09 flat or just under".

1:03:16 for Ritz with a comfortable win over Abdi. 1:12:34 for a 4 second win by Rhines over Neely Spence Gracey.
Also in the field are Fernando Cabada and Brett Gotcher. Abdi just came back from Ethiopia (his first visit to Africa since he left at age-5). There he trained with Mo Farah and says, “It was mind blowing to see the speed and intensity and mileage that Mo did there in Ethiopia. My training was wonderful, too. It was the first time I had been back to Africa since leaving at age five. The first couple weeks were tough, because I got sick, but the last three weeks things came along very well. Mo always said to come train with him when he went to Kenya, and this year I said I’d go. So when he called in January, and said, ‘let’s go to Ethiopia,’ I was there.”
Gotcher was 5th at the Olympic Trials and hasn't finished a marathon since. He thinks the key to Boston will be to conserve on the downhills.
