*LRC 2016 Ethiopian Olympic Marathon Team Announced - Ethiopians Leave Off World's Fastest Woman And Arguably The World's Greatest Distance Runner Ever
World champ Mare Dibaba will race for the first time since Worlds.
Kipchoge donated and signed the kit he wore when winning Berlin 2015 and Dibaba donated her uniform from Worlds.
Bernard Koech (58:41) and Atsedu Tsegay (58:47) highlight a group of more than 10 sub-hour men while world marathon champion Mare Dibaba leads the women against former world 10,000 bronze medalist Wude Ayalew (67:58). Lawrence Kimaiyo (2:07:01) and Margaret Agai (2:23:28) are the fastest in the full race.
Dibaba faces Berlin/Tokyo champ Tirfi Tsegaye while Koech is up against 2011 world 10,000 champ Ibrahim Jeilan and Alex Oloitiptip (59:28).
Mosop set the Chinease all-comers' record, breaking the 2:06:32 ran by Sammy Wanjiru when he won the 2008 Olympics. This was a big race for Mosop who has struggled the last couple of years, only running 2:20:37 in his last marathon in May.
There are also another nine sub-2:10 men in the field. Mare Dibaba (2:19:52) faces Mamitu Daska may (2:21:59) in the women's race.
Definitely topping the list is the Dibaba sisters.
In her first marathon in 17 months, Mare Dibaba, who has a 2:19:52 pb, went out fast and was on 2:19:29 pace at 30km before fading. 38-year old Mariko Kiplagat won a tactical men's race in 2:08:06.
