These are going to be two must-watch finals. Will Ben Blankenship's amazing 2015 continue or will he go home devasted thanks to Robby Andrews or Kyle Merber? The battle for women's spots #3 and #4 (thank you Ms. Simpson) will be incredibly intense on the women's side.
Donohue, a 2008 Olympian who has barely ran for the last 4-years, got the upset victory.
Cain wasn't too talkative (on that subject), but Moser says it "sucks". The US's first ever DL 5000 winner Ben True shares his thoughts.
The final two sections of the men's 1500 and the men's and women's 5,000s were all cancelled due to a thunderstorm, which meant no races for Robby Andrews, Galen Rupp or Kara Goucher. Manzano won a slow 1500 in 3:38.96 over Wheating (3:39.56), while Rowbury (1500) and Symmonds (800) both had runners go down directly in front of them, messing up their races.
The DMRs will be Andrew Wheating, Kyle Merber, Ben Blankenship, Brandon Johnson and Treniere Moser, Shannon Rowbury, Ajee Wilson, Gabe Grunewald.
Women's action includes Ajee Wilson versus Alysia Montano (in just her second race post-pregnancy) in the 600; Treniere Moser in the 1000 (which also features 18-year-old high school senior Alexa Efraimson); and Shannon Rowbury and Jordan Hasay, who will each attempt the mile/2-mile double.
Poor pacing ruined the AR attempt and Rowbury wobbled during the final straight but held on for a dominating victory. Treniere Moser 2nd, an upbeat Jordan Hasay faded the last lap, and Mary Cain struggled.
Will Leer, Edward Cheserek, Lawi Lalang, Shelby Houlihan, Jordan Hasay, Treniere Moser and Heather Kampf all talk about their plans for tomorrow.
What a meet. Shannon Rowbury looks to lead a NOP sweep in the women's mile while teammate Cam Levins shoots for the Canadian record in the 5,000. Mid-d studs Ajee Wilson (800) and Duane Solomon (600) will also feature. Plus Ashton Eaton (60 hurdles & long jump) will pull double duty.
