He said he was using the race as a "lunching pad to achieve [his] set goals."
"My plan is not only to break the world record before I retire. Everybody is talking about sub-two hours, so why not? One day I will try this, I know it's hard work. I feel confident, so let's do it and see. ...I need some time to prepare, to be honest, I never take a long preparation for the marathon. Even two years ago, I prepared for three months. It's not enough, I have to train for longer. If everything goes well, I want to do better things in the future, so I am really confident in my capacity. I know my problems, like short preparation because of injury. I want to take more time and see."
McColgan's time moved her to #3 on the UK all-time list.
The winning time was the slowest since the race's focus shifted from the 10k to the 5k in 1989.
They beat out Syracuse and Duke in 2nd and 3rd. #13 North Carolina took the women's team title lead by Brynn Brown's individual win.
Talking about leaving college coaching Webb said, "I wanted to be at a Catholic school. That's what prompted that decision, having God being the No. 1 thing in my life. And then, my family. I couldn't really do that effectively as a collegiate coach."
Webb is getting his Master's degree at Franciscan University in Catholic theology and say,s "Really, the sins of my youth was putting running before God. If you would ask me, that would be my biggest regret. That was it."
