Camacho's-Quinn's near-perfect season continued but she came up short in her WR quest, the men's LJ was extremely dramatic and Shericka Jackson was surprisingly eliminated in the women's 200.
Sifan Hassan, running 12 hours before the 5,000m final, fell on the final lap, picked herself up and still won her heat.
Jacobs, a converted long jumper who was born in El Paso, ran two European records in three hours, winning the final in 9.80 ahead of the USA's Fred Kerley (9.84) and Canada's Andre De Grasse (9.89).
Nijel Amos and Isaiah Jewett fell to the track, but now Amos has been put in the final. Clayton Murphy made the final with a high wire act down the homestretch.

- Shaunae Miller-Uibo Is Running The 200m, May Defend Her Title In The 400m The first round of the 400m is on the same day as the 200m final (400m in the AM, 200m in the PM). She said she'll make the call after the first rounds of the 200m, but would like to do the double.
- Dina Asher-Smith Pulls Out Of 200m With Due To Hamstring Tear She reveals that she tore it earlier this month which hindered her and lead to her failing to make the 100m final in Tokyo. She still didn't rule out running in GB's 4x100.

FloJo’s 33-year-old 10.62 Olympic record is gone as Thompson-Herah moved to #2 on the all-time list. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce earned her 4th Olympic 100m medal by taking silver in 10.74.
Ross let up at the line and missed out on the final auto spot in his heat by .03. China’s Lijiao Gong won the women’s shot put as the USA’s Raven Saunders & New Zealand’s Valerie Adams took silver & bronze.
Should Hassan pull off triple gold, it would automatically become the greatest accomplishment in the history of women's distance running. But with Faith Kipyegon, Gudaf Tsegay, Hellen Obiri, and Letesenbet Gidey standing in her way, she's no lock for gold in any event.
