Shelby Houlihan Gets 4 Year Ban
Shelby Houlihan Gets 4 Year Ban

The American record holder in the 1500 and 5000 meters will miss the Olympic Trials and the next two Olympics after her appeal was denied. Houlihan is the latest high-profile American track star to test positive for low levels of a banned substance, joining Ajee' Wilson, Jarrion Lawson, and Will Claye. But unlike those three, the CAS did not accept her explanation of contaminated meat.

"To the AIU and WADA. Shame on you. Shame on you for not caring about the truth. Shame on you for using athletes in a political chess match. You got it very wrong this time and that’s not OK. It’s not ok to be right 9 times out of 10 when you decide to execute someone’s athletic life and dreams. You don’t deserve this power."

The Trials are here and it is time to make them even more interesting. Ready, set, pick. First event closes Friday June 18th in the evening.

2021 NCAA Outdoords - Day 4 Women

In 1991, Laurie Henes won the NCAA 5,000m title for NC State in Eugene. Now the Wolfpack coach, Henes guided her daughter Elly to win the same race 30 years later.

Meyer, a grad transfer from Delaware, entered the year with a 2:03.40 PR. Today, she ran 2:00.28 to claim the national title in her first NCAA appearance.

Entering the NCAA meet, Anna Camp was only the third-best 1,500 runner on BYU’s roster. But today she was the best in the NCAA, taking down NCAA mile champ Sage Hurta of Colorado in a PR of 4:08.53.

Before April, Mahala Norris had never competed in the steeplechase. Before Thursday, she'd never competed at NCAA outdoors and had a 9:44.10 PR. Now her PR is 9:31.79 and she's the NCAA champ.

Mu ran 49.57 in the individual 400 and a 48.85 split on the relay to anchor Texas A&M to the win in a CR of 3:22.34. Sturgis’ 100 (a windy 10.74) was the fastest in NCAA history. USC won the team title.

How impressive are these numbers? 3:35.35 (#5 all-time NCAA) with an epic negative split (1:48.87 final 800, 52.23 final 400, 25.9 final 200).

Teare got more than just his first NCAA individual crown. He also picked up the Olympic standard and broke Bill McChesney's legendary Oregon school record from 1982.

Noted front runners Isaiah Jewet and Brandon Miller were rewarded for boldly taking the 800 out in 50.9 and the rest of the field while well beaten ended up running fast as well as 8 of 9 guys set new PBs.

Oklahoma State junior Ryan Smeeton went down on the final barrier and Chemadi was your champion.

There were also fast times for LSU freshman Sean Burrell in the 400 hurdles (world U20 record of 47.85) and Florida’s Joseph Fahnbulleh, who came from way back to deny LSU’s Terrance Laird a 100, 200, 4x100 sweep by running 19.91. In the field, LSU star JuVaughn Harrison completed the HJ/LJ double and Arizona State's Turner Washington completed the shot/discus double.
