LRC 2019 NCAA Women’s Distance Prelims: NCAA Champs Danae Rivers & Karisa Nelson Go Home; Allie O Impresses Nelson has battled health issues this spring, while Rivers ran a tactically poor race and wound up boxed in with nowhere to go in the home straight. Ostrander’s 9:44 was the fastest time ever in an NCAA prelim.

The Sunday Times Reports That Russian Officials Tried To Cover Up A Doping Case For World HJ Silver Medalist Danil Lysenko They claim Russian officials forged medical documents to the AIU to cover-up Lysenko’s whereabouts violations last year.
The Telegraph: “Russia Infighting Could Lead To World Championship Expulsion As Officials Turn On Each Other” A source claims that a series of damaging stories have been leaked internally to the Russian and international press.
WADA Director General Olivier Niggli Claims RUSADA Is A “Worthy Anti-Doping Organization” Niggli praised RUSADA improvements, but added, “We do not have to be naive, because many things change, we must remain alert, we must see how RUSADA will develop.”

Reuters:Two Russian Coaches And A Doctor Banned For Doping Are Still Active In The Sport Sounds like these Russians are using loopholes (like being a “PE teacher” at a university instead of a coach) to skirt their bans. Any elite athletes caught working with banned coaches/doctors should be banned themselves; it should be that simple.

USA’s 2017 World Long Jump Silver Medalist Jarrion Lawson Facing 4-Year Drug Ban After Testing Positive For The Banned Steroid Trenbolone Lawson vehemently maintains his innocence saying the failed drug test was from eating contaminated meat. The low level of trenbolone in his sample and the evidence he provided from the restaurant seem to be consistent with this. Ajee Wilson and Will Claye have both been cleared by USADA in cases involving contaminated beef, but the AIU is being more strict with Lawson.

WADA Publishes Stakeholder Notice Regarding Clenbuterol Meat Contamination WADA is amending their code to allow valid meat contamination cases to be dealt with fairly and allow athletes to avoid DQs. Unfortunately for Jarrion Lawson, this rule change concerns clenbuterol, not trenbolone.
More Doping News: Russia Files 296 Neutral-Athlete Applications With The IAAF In 2018 the IAAF approved 73 Russians to compete, 68 applications were denied and 6 athletes had their neutral status revoked.
