NCAA Conference Champs: Friday Action

  • Big 10:Results Michigan State got wins in the 3,000 (Rachele Schulist – 9:01) and the DMR, where they ran 10:57 to beat Michigan (11:02). Penn State got wins from Robby Creese (3,000) and the DMR, which ran 9:40.62 to beat Indiana (9:41.68).
  • Big 12:Results Baylor’s Rachel Johnson won the 5,000 as OSU men (9:37.31) and women (11:16.86) won the DMRs. For the men Oklahoma was a close 2nd (9:38.65).
  • SEC: Results In the men’s 3,000, Kemoy Campbell won in 8:00.27 over Arkansas teammate Stanley Kebenei (8:02.64). Arkansas’ Dominque Scott won the women’s race (9:17).
  • ACC: Results Syracuse’s Martin Hehir (13:57) and Notre Dame’s Molly Seidel (15:55) won the 5Ks.

A Big Win For Athletes:IOC To Scrap Rule 40, Which Prevented Athletes From Doing Advertising With Non-Olympic Sponsors During Olympics The IOC under new leadership is starting to get it. If this rule wasn’t changed, we were going to encourage major athletes like Usain Bolt to violate it. Nick Symmonds and Sanya Richards-Ross were two athletes who spoke out against rule 40 at the last Olympics. For more on that, click here.

Asafa Powell’s Management To Sue Supplement Company Epiphany D1 For $8 Million For His Positive Drug Test Powell’s manager, Paul Doyle, also criticized the IAAF for not stepping in and acting quicker.
