Women's Steeple: LRC Milcah Chemos Wins Kenya's First-Ever Women's Steeplechase Gold It's a shame that Zaripova wasn't competing for Russia as the stadium was rocking thanks to Isinbayeva's gold and would have gone bonkers if Zaripova had been vaulting at the same time.

Monday: David Oliver World Champ (race video), Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce Crushes It (video), Christine Ohuruogo Over Montsho In A Thriller (video) (3 separate links, race videos and results) Monday night had three big track finals in Moscow. They delivered. David Oliver ran 13.00 to win the hurdles as Ryan Wilson got silver and a Russian got bronze to the thrill of the small crowd. SAFP crushed the field in the women's 100m, and someone needs to teach Amantle Montsho to lean. More coverage coming.

100: Jamaican Gleaner: Fraser-Pryce "was Jamaica's lone bright spark on a miserable day." Fraser-Pryce stood on top of a day for Jamaica that included a missed medal and last place in the women's 400, a DQ in the 400H (Kaliese Spencer), 110H bronze medalist Hansle Parchment missing the final with injury and Andrew Riley getting last in the 110H.

While You Were Sleeping: LRC Evan Jager Looking Great As Are Three Kenyans (One Struggled), How About Them Canadians? The news wasn't all positive, though, as Jager's training partner Dan Huling was awful and DeSean Turner didn't advance. Canada turned into an overnight steeple power, however, and has two in the final.

• Alan Abrahamson Bashes Jamaican Anti-Doping Commission For Not Making A Serious Effort To Catch Drug Cheats Jamaica only conducted 106 tests in 2012, compared to the 4,051 by USADA or the 15,854 by the Russian National Anti-Doping Organization. Even the non-major players such as Iceland and Iran conducted more tests than Jamaica did last year.
• Nine More Turkish Track Athletes Get Drug Bans After Testing Positive For Steroids; Six Are Women Including Two Teenagers Eight were throwers and one 400 sprinter. Many of the cases had athletes testing positive for stanozolol (the steroid Ben Johnson used) and oral turinabol (the steroid used in state-sponsored East German doping in the 1970s and '80s). All received two-year bans.
