Quote Of The Day

"Meb had already been to the mountain top once, when he won the silver medal at Athens. Now the question was, 'Are you willing to start at the bottom and try to make the long climb back to the top again?' We talked a lot about this. I told him I would completely understand if he said he didn't want to go through it again. Fortunately, his answer was: 'Yes, I want to do it again.'"

- Bob Larsen, talking about Meb Keflezighi's decision to come back to the sport after major hip injury in 2007. Meb's coach since 1994, Larsen says in an interview with Runner's World that his charge had to play catch-up with his training for Boston but that "his races always surpass his workouts."

LRC's The Week That Was In Running

LRC The Week That Was This week, we break down arguably the fastest marathon in history and wonder why it's not considered a World Marathon Major, let you know how the 2010 Boston Marathon is rapidly getting weaker in quality, get free coaching advice from British great Ron Hill, take a look at the best road 5k in the world as well as the greatest 3,200 in HS history, praise Magdaleny Lewy Boulet, and much more. Along the way, our momentum in breaking down the hot spring action is interrupted as we are forced to talk about the fall marathons a bit too early.

April Fools

April Fools Archives:
Judging from the texts, emails, posts, people upset with Obama, people wanting Obama to sue us for slander, a lot of viewers fell for our 2010 April Fools homepage. While our April Fools page was pretty good, the best April Fools Prank was on the Boston Marathon. A LetsRun.com visitor planned his prank weeks in advance as he created a fake a website mybaa.org (that looked nearly identical to the real Boston website) and said the Boston Marathon qualifying times changed 10 minutes for each age group. He then posted on LetsRun that the times changed and soon the news spread. People were up in arms and apparently the people at the Boston Marathon can't take a joke as they wasted who knows how much money having their lawyers send a letter threatening the guy. All we can say is - excellent job.
